This is what we have been doing today so far. It's a beautiful sunny day (and not to humid either thankfully) so we went out to play. The kids have been running around the yard playing with balls, sidewalk chalk (we have a huge cement slab in the back yard that is almost as big as a full size basket ball court..I'm not kidding), cars, etc. Basically loving it. I think it's safe to say I got 30 mins of outside time in today. :)

Before that though we headed out to the Nicholasville Farmer's Market. What's that you say? There's a Farmer's Market in Nicholasville? Well there is suppose to be. Guess it's not open yet so we stopped at a veggie cart along the side of the road. That counts right? My goal to go to the Farmers Market was more about buying fresh veggies than actually going to the market. So I'm counting this. :) Besides Todd and I like fresh veggies so much that we will try and do this as much as possible since we didn't do the CSA this year. We didn't get much this time but that's ok. The kids wont really eat this stuff and I'd rather buy a little than buy too much and watch it waste.

While the kids played outside and I took pictures. I thought about running these stairs to our deck, but decided I just didn't feel like it today. I'm tired and worn out. Think today will be my no cardio day and I'll just focus on some free weights and some ab work tonight. Those of you that run stairs how do you track it? I realize that running stairs at a stadium are a lot different but I still have no idea how I would track that at all. Thoughts? Can I use my stairs here or is that too dangerous? Just wondering. Oh and there are 13 steps in total if you can't tell from my picture.
Oh and the tired thing. After my workout yesterday I got all shaky and felt like I was going to be sick. Haven't had that happen before. Todd thinks I might be over doing it and that I need rest. I think he's right. Don't tell him that though. lol. I've been doing 2 cardio sessions of 40 mins every other day. I do 1 cardio of 40 mins each day though for the most part. I think my allergy congestion and med combo plus a hard cardio session kicked my rear. That's why today I'm going to do something different and see how I feel.
I also found that when I turn off the computer and TV at 8pm that I'm enjoying the peace and quiet. It's making me think even more about the things that I do to distract myself. Without the TV/Internet on last night I managed to get tonight's dinner in the crock pot early, write out a shopping list, clean out my pantry (and throw away 7 empty spice jars!), and also clean out my bathroom closet. You might be thinking that TV sounds better than cleaning but to me cleaning/organizing is soothing for me. yeah yeah yeah I know I'm strange. Anyways I also feel less stressed when I go to bed. Maybe it's because I'm not watching CSI or Criminal Minds before I go to bed (and have a head full of graphic images). Honestly it makes me want to consider giving up TV all together for awhile. It's amazing the junk we fill our minds with by watching TV.
Anyways the kids are napping now and it's time for me to go have some lunch (spinach salad with fresh fruit. Yum!) and read a bit of my book before they get up and the Montgomery Grandparent's come over for a visit. Hope everyone is feeling good and having a wonderful Saturday.
those veggies look delicious!!!! I love love love them!
ReplyDeleteYour stairs look manageable. The only thing is that you'd have to be extra careful if you held onto the sides b/c they are wood. You could do a few exercises on your stairs though....like just do quick jumps on the first step...or alternate quick (left/right/left/right) on the first step for 30 seconds...then do pushups for 30 seconds. It's playaaaaaaa's choice! I do a variety of things with stairs...they're just another exercise tool that's available to us all around. You could just do a series of jumps, steps, running up, pushups for a certain amount of time, rest and do again.
And yes, rest, listen to your body and see what it's telling you! And increase as your body allows. You're good at listening to your body so I trust you! :)
AND tell me what you're making with those veggies!
Thanks for the ideas with my stairs. The next time I take the kids out to play I might just do that. :) I'm going to figure out the distance around our basketball court slab in the backyard too and figure out how many times I have to walk around it for it to be a mile. Might even do some sprints out there. Ok...maybe not the sprints I'm too lazy to do that by myself. lol
