love how the body works

This past week was not the best for me physically. I was tired a lot. Thanks to mother nature I felt like I just wanted to sleep non stop. Plus it's super hot here right now. As my husband said this morning he wasn't sure which was thicker the grass in our yard or the humidity. lol.

Anyways I did work out and I did watch my food intake but there were a couple of days where I was just plain starving and ate beyond my calorie recommendation. I figured I needed the extra calories and didn't think much about it. We do have to give ourselves some wiggle room from time to time so I wasn't too worried about it.

Today was weigh in/measurement time. I gained 1 lb. Not a big deal. Besides that a little fluctuation here and there isn't anything to get worked up about. It could be water weight since I did drink about a million glasses of water yesterday. lol. Anyways the surprise for me though was that I'd lost an inch in my waist and an inch in my hips. The last time I measured was two weeks ago. Needless to say I was surprised to see the changes since it wasn't that long ago that I did the measurements. Not complaining just surprised.

I have also been curious about how the body handles fat, burning calories, and stuff like that. I'm sure I probably learned this stuff in high school and probably even in my college PE classes that I didn't care about then. At any rate I've been reading up online about it and actually trying to pay attention to how it works. I find it fascinating that the body knows exactly what it needs to do to keep us moving and how sugars, fats, etc are used and how they are allocated to the body. Really fascinating stuff. I wanted to know how the body gets rid of the excess fat that we burn in our workouts. I mean where does it go? Well it actually leaves our bodies in two forms carbon dioxide and water. Yeah who knew that the body breaks it down and gets rid of the bad stuff that way?

I'm blown away by the way the body works and what I'm learning. To me this journey of losing the weight isn't just about the weight it's about being healthy and learning to respect my body. I already have admiration for what it is capable (I did have two kids so I know what it can handle) of and now I have a new sense of awe for the creation that God made. I mean how cool is it that He could create something so beautiful and complex. Take a second and think about that. It's mind blowing really.

I hope that in the midst of whatever you are feeling about your own bodies that you are able to see the amazing creation that you and take a second to think about how the changes we are making are honoring it.
