Today Todd and I took the kids to a couple free events in our area. One of those was going to the local bookstore to participate in their Star Wars day. Yes we are that geeky! We had a great time but I did manage to miss two steps at one point while I was carrying Sophia (she just turned 2) and rolled my ankle. At the time it didn't hurt that bad and I was just glad that I didn't drop my daughter on her head.
However it's been several hours now and I'm noticing that it's gotten to be very swollen and hurts like crazy. There goes my workout for the night. I am disapointed. I never worked out last night because I got sucked into researching health stuff online and lost track of time and thought for sure today would be a great day to make up for yesterday. Apparently I was wrong. I guess I'll be propping my ankle up and icing it to keep it from swelling anymore.
Anyone know how long you should really stay off of it? I don't want to do more damage to myself but I really don't want to miss too many days of working out.
always listen to your body. your body will thank you :)
ReplyDeletei would practice RICE, rest, ice, compression and elevation for at least another day. you can do some floor exercises (yoga, pilates) that don't require your ankle at all. if you can't not use your ankle...don't do it!
