Boom Boom Pow

I started working out with these guys: My arms were sore after the first go round with them. I did 3 reps of 10 with the lowest color band which is only 4lbs in resistance. I still can't figure out how to do the lunges and squats with these but all the other exercises I feel pretty good with using the bands.

Yesterday instead of doing a tradtional cardio session I mowed our yard. 2 hours later when I was done mowing, pulling weeds, and general cleaning up the yard I was exhausted and felt sick. It's so hot and muggy that I wasn't getting enough water in me to keep up with all the sweating I was doing.

Today back to a normal workout. I did more work with the bands and then did an hour of cardio. I felt so out of shape today. Maybe yesterday I over did it in the yard or maybe I've just been kinda lazy for the last week with my workouts and today I actually worked like I should be.

My new shoes should be getting here sometime in the next couple of days and then I'll be starting my outside runs.

Other things to note are:

My son knows the chorus to Boom Boom Pow by The Black Eyed Peas and sings it at the top of his lungs when he hears it when I'm working out

The kids were trying to do the exercises I was doing with the bands tonight. Of course they don't have the bands so it's hysterical to watch them and of course caused me to loose count of my reps so I had to keep starting over.

Wondering what everyone does for heart rate monitors or if they do one? I'm considering saving one so I can get a more accurate read of my calorie burn on my runs but I have no idea what to be looking for or what brands are good.

What's the best thing to run in? I don't want chaffing.
