Magazines

I've always gotten magazines. I don't know what it is about them, but I love them. The shiny glossy covers, the beautiful ads, the helpful articles, and all the pretty people.

Yes I know they sell you an image and a life that isn't really like the one you live or will probably ever live, but I still can't help but get lost in them.

I noticed recently though that my stacks of magazines have changed a bit. I use to hold on to the Better Homes and Gardens, Good Housekeeping, and Real Simple. Now though as I sorted stacks of magazines tonight to take to the recycle bin I noticed that my pile is mostly health inspired stuff. Shape, Fitness, and Runner's world.

Am I living the lives that call for those types of magazines....well sorta. I'm learning that I'm not a hardcore workout person, that I care about living simply in all areas of life, and that I really enjoy just being a better person. So while I will sit and read a Runner's World magazine I will probably never be that person who's life is only about running or whatever.

My life is a little more complicated and colored. I like that I have the occassional bout of ADD and that I have days where all I want to do is decorate and organize and other days when all I want to do is bake (and not healthy stuff), watch movies, or even spend the day working out. I am a person with lots of interests and that's why after I finish reading the magazines that I don't mind tossing them out. Even though I enjoy the world in which those magazines create for me I think I like mine just a little bit more.

I love my not so perfect and some what confusing and often dysfunctional life because it makes every activity I do or particpate in that much more rewarding.
