Since I was up at 4am anyway I decided to go for a run around 5:30am. It's surprisingly warm for a fall morning, but I wasn't about to complain.
I put my new ear buds in and set off on my run. The wind felt great on my face and I couldn't help but be struck by the beauty around me. Even in the early morning dusk you could see the trees blowing, hear the leaves shuffling on the ground, and hear the occasional bird out. Honestly my description does not do it justice. I was in such awe of how beautiful creation is that I had to stop and walk the last half block. I had to absorb it in. To remind myself that this is a gift and that running allows me to participate in this gift.
The next time you go for a run slow your pace just a little bit. Look at the scenery (even if it is in the city) and take time to enjoy it and maybe say a quick prayer for the homes you run past like I did.
