Get fitted for a proper pair of running shoes...

Done and done.

On my way home from a consulting appointment I stopped off at the Run Walk Shop that everyone around here told me to go to. Totally worth it. I told the guy up front that I wasn't planning on buying that day and that I just wanted to try on some shoes and get an idea of what I need for my feet. He was great. They watched me walk around (which felt weird), asked me a couple of questions, had me run in place a little bit, and had me try on a bunch of shoes after they measured my feet. Turns out that because of my hip problem (I didn't tell the sales guy this he said he could see it in the way that I walk) that I put more pressure on my left foot and that means it's just a bit wider than the right foot and that is probably why my feet hurt after a good workout. He suggested that I try Saucony shoes since they tend to have a wider base without being considered wide shoes. Tried them on and LOVED them. My feet felt great in them. Considering they wanted $110 for them and I have oh $0.50 to my name right now I told him thank you for his help and that I might be back when I had the money. He was very understanding and told me that they do not work off of comission and that even if I didn't buy from them that they were just glad to help me figure out what shoes I need. Talk about service.

I can now mark off on my list that I got fitted for a proper pair of running shoes. Still need to buy them but at least I know what I'm looking for now and can budget for them (or ask for them for my birthday that is coming up next month :)).

  1. I got fitted for running shoes, too! I actually ordered mine online, getting an older model, so it was cheaper. :-)

  2. I ordered my shoes at:

    http://www.runningwarehouse.com/

And I had some trouble with my order (it was totally UPS's fault, not the running store) and I emailed the running store to tell them about it. And they are giving me a partial refund on my shoes! Great customer service. :-)
