Shikes it's hot. It's hot enough that when you check the weather online or on TV that they mention you should stay indoors as much as possible.
We have ignored that. Yesterday and Today I took the kids outside to play in the early parts of the day for a change of pace. In some ways the heat is nice. You sweat just doing the simplest things. It's like a workout all in itself. Today though the heat got to me.
After coming in with the kids I just felt terrible. Didn't want to eat even though it was lunch time and felt very light headed. I drank lots of water, closed all the blinds, and tried to cool off the house as much as possible. After about an hour I managed to get some strawberries and almonds into my system and I slowly started to feel better.
Needless to say I'm not working out tonight. I don't feel like I need to. I have no way to know how much energy I burned playing with the kids outside this morning but it's enough that I don't feel bad about taking the night off. Sitting with my feet up and watching a movie and possibly having a high calorie snack that I love but don't eat hardly ever. I still feel off and my appetite still isn't back really.
Anyways if you are outside at all please be safe. Put your sunscreen on, drink lots of water, and be sure to slow down so you don't feel like I do now. I know we all want to push ourselves to get that workout in, go a little bit farther on our runs, or do 10 more minutes. Just be smart and remember that Heat Exhaustion is not fun and can be very dangerous. I know from now on I'll be paying attention to those advisories and instead of playing outside take my kids to the mall play area or something and keep us all safe.
