Sign?

So I talked with Todd about my desire to run the 5k. He was very very supportive and said that if I wanted to do it we could count out pennies or something for me to able to pay for it. He's amazing! So supportive and everything.

I'm not sure about the 17th though I am psyched about doing a 5k. I haven't even started running outside and I'm excited. I told him I wanted to wait until I got my new shoes. My current ones kill my feet and I wouldn't want to run a 5k for the first time wearing brand new never been worn shoes until that day. I'm certain one of my family members are buying my shoes for me...I hope they are anyways since they are no longer avilable in my size.

Anyways as I've been thinking through this whole running, 5k, am I crazy thing, I got a piece of mail today from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society about their Team Tranings that they will have for Winter 10-11. Did God just send me a sign or what?! So I think I'll find out more information about it and see what it involves. If I understand correctly they do group trainings and stuff and that would be awesome to get going. I would love to run for a good cause and also have a team to support me and help motivate me. Anyone have any experience with this? How much does it cost? What kind of training schedule and all that?

They have several informational meetings at the end of the month and I think I might go to one to find out more. I really have lost my mind I think. I never ever ever in a million years would have thought about doing this and this mailer shows up and I'm thinking of running on a team. I'm more of a do it all by myself kind of person but I'm actually considering doing this.

I've also told Todd that I know for sure I want to do the Susan G. Kolman race/walk that they have every fall. It's such a good cause and something I feel strongly about. He thought it was great and I might try and see if my adopted mom might be interested in doing that too since I know it's a cause close to her heart as well.

I think my dedication to my health has made a change. Todd said I was glowing last night as I talked about my list of things to do in the next year. I now have about 10 things on my list and need about 20 more but I'm actually really excited for change, challenge, and growth. Bring it on!

  1. Awesome! I'm so excited that you'll be running this 5K. :-) I would suggest starting to run outside, just so you get used to it. You'll be fantastic!
