Ramblings, updates, etc...

Update on what I've accomplished on my 30 things to 30 list:

I'm in the process of doing several things on my list...I've joined a book club, signed up for the 5k in October, written a letter each month (so far this one has more to do on it), started reading my first Jane Austen book, started reading LOTR, started and am several wks into P90x, did the volunteer forms for Sam's school (so far they have had me send in household art supplies--egg cartons and stuff like that), I can do 10 pushups (thank you p90x!)

Workout updates:

I'm starting week 4 day 2 of P90x. I actually just watched the next workout so I'll be prepared to Core Synergistics tomorrow.

I ran yesterday and did about 2 miles. I need to get up to 3 to be ready for the 5k. I think tomorrow I'll run. Today I took the day off from working out to rest my sore knees. As a fairly new runner should I be shooting for overall distance or time. Right now I'm just running till I get tired and I'm getting about 2 miles for each run in about 28 mins.

Ramblings:

I'm having trouble raising funds for the race in October. I don't know why but it seems there are a lot of excuses on why people shouldn't give. I'm frustrated and discouraged. I wish people could really see what a great opportunity it is to help raise funds for Cancer research and how much it would mean to me if they just gave a few dollars in support of me doing this run.

It's baking time of year. Need to find some healthy recipes of things to bake. I don't want to have to spend the rest of year trying to burn off the calories from the yummy treats I'm going to be baking. If anyone has any great sites that you frequent for recipes please let me know.

I want to move. Really badly. I'm ready for a big change and we need lots of prayers as we figure somethings out.

  1. As far as distance vs. time, I would say distance is better b/c then, even if you're tired, you can push yourself just a little bit more if you have a "landmark" or a mile-marker to spur you on. That's what I'd do anyway.
